Barrington Rhode Island (RI) Real Estate Tour

March 22010

http://www.barringtonrihomes.com — Tour Barrington, RI neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Barrington, Rhode Island is located within the Narragansett Bay watershed and is part of what is known as the East Bay region. This region, which is comprised of the towns of Barrington, Bristol, East Providence and Warren, is steeped in British and Colonial heritage. European settlers first arrived here in the mid-17th century, where tensions with the local Wapanoag Indians led to the outbreak of King Philip’s War in 1675. In 1667, the land that is now Barrington was incorporated as a part of the town of Swansea; religious differences drove a formal separation in 1711, and Barrington was incorporated independently in 1717.

Barrington is surrounded by water on three sides and has more waterfront land than any other town in the East Bay. Although Barrington has several manufacturing establishments, it is best known for its beautiful homes and country estates. At Nayatt Point, in the southwestern part of the town, is a beautiful summer colony on the shores of Narragansett Bay.

Barrington is also home to the Rhode Island Country Club, whose golf course is rated among the best in the east. The Barrington River offers safe anchorage for a large number of motor and sailing craft, providing convenient access to the broad reaches of Narragansett Bay. There is a 14-mile bike path which runs through all four East Bay communities and offers an unparalleled view of Narragansett Bay to cyclists, walkers, joggers and rollerbladers.

Opportunities abound to walk, fish, bike, boat, bird watch, golf, swim, and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in Rhode Island. All things considered, Barrington is a wonderful place in which to live and work, raise a family and enjoy New England’s rich heritage. For other town tours visit http://www.virtualhomes.com . Malden, Massachusetts boasts a rich history spanning more than three centuries, from its origins as a small settlement called Mystic Side to the modern, energetic city of today.

From Elisha Converse to John Volpe, from Walter Brennan to Louise Stokes to Frank Stella, Maldonians have participated in every facet of American culture.

Even now, Malden is at the heart of an innovative New England economy. Just ten minutes from downtown Boston, Malden is situated in close proximity to metropolitan Boston’s major arteries and interstates. Dennisport Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour

January 162010

http://www.dennisportma.virtualhomes.com Tour Dennisport, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Dennisport, Massachusetts was named an All-American Town in 1978, and combines the historic splendor of a traditional New England town with modern day conveniences. The villages of East Dennis, Dennis and South Dennis feature scenic historic districts dating back to whaling days, while tranquil tree-lined streets meander through Dennisport and West Dennis. Sixteen inviting beaches lie on the warm waters of Nantucket Sound to the south and on the crisp refreshing waters of Cape Cod Bay to the north.

Dennis also offers a number of recreation trails for hiking and cycling, and well developed business districts throughout town provide ample goods and services. Residents of Dennis feel a sense of pride in their home by the sea. The quiet little town, incorporated in 1793, was named for Josiah Dennis, a favorite minister.

As suitable land for farming was scant, Dennis became host to a fleet of whaling boats and a wide variety of other maritime industries by the 1800s. As the twentieth century approached and the glory days of sea captains faded, Dennis residents turned to commercial fishing and land-based industries.

Dennis comes into its own during the summer months, with special events every week. Home to the nation’s oldest summer theater, the Cape Playhouse, Dennis offers varied summer activities, with arts and craft shows, concerts on the village green and Dennis Festival Days, held in August, which celebrate the friendly heritage of this All-American New England town. Home for Sale in Kauai

December 282009

A slideshow of my house for sale in Kaua’i; I lived there for a year in the hopes of starting a farm and education center, but my small business failed, I was diagnosed with cancer, and my investments took a dive, all within my first six months. :(

I bought the house with my retirement savings – for about $100,000 more than its current list price – and it looks like my down payment is down the toilet, but it could be worse – I could be one of Bernie Madhoff’s clients! At least I am young and have time to recover from the loss. That AND I had some awesome doctors in Kaua’i who saved my life. :)

Here is my Realtor’s listing for the home: http://www.kymryperez.com/address.php?property_ID=20
It is currently the cheapest 3-bedroom (it is technically a 4-bedroom) with acreage on the South Side of Kaua’i, which (I think) is the side with the best beaches and the best weather.

Jerusalem’s Land Wars – Israel/Palestine

December 202009

June 1997
This shocking film takes us to the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict over land ownership in Palestinian East Jerusalem. A powerful insight into the story behind the story.

Palestinian claims that homes are being bulldozed by Jews are poisoning peace efforts around Jerusalem. “God don’t bless them”, screams a middle aged Arab woman. Her house is being forcibly demolished in front of her eyes after she was accused of illegally building extra rooms. Despite a planned court hearing Israeli soldiers refuse to wait and the bulldozers begin smashing down the walls. “This is not good government” shouts a neighbour at soldiers standing nearby. A court injunction finally stops the demolition but already several rooms are just rubble. Mayor of Jerusalem, Ehud Olmert, is overseeing a massive building Program of new Jewish settlements, the most contentious is Har Homa. Olmert promises the Jewish building Program will continue. Near the disputed Old City armed guards protect Jewish residents. Hussam Jweihan refused to sell to Jewish buyers; now an armed Israeli guard is paid to watch him. An Arab landowner claims her tenant ’sold’ her property to Jews , a move upheld by the courts. The new Jewish owner swears that she has a God-given right to be there. This subtle war breeds ever more tension between Jews and Arabs.
