Supergroup was the VH1 show that showed fans an inside view of the forming of an all-star band. The group featured ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, Jason Bonham, Biohazard bassist Evan Seinfeld and classic rock axeman extraordinaire, Ted Nugent. My name’s Derick Fernandez. I’m 14yrs old. I was born in New York. Now I’ve been in India for about 4yrs. I’m also studying here. I love music. All types of it. I wanna become a rockstar, but I’m not sure how. I’ll be coming back to Atlanta in 2010. just 2 more years. So, I want a band, or just a few people I can make music with. I don’t have a bad voice, it’s just needs a little more practice. I can’t come up with lyrics that easily, so I need some help with that.

I need some tips on how to do all of this.
Maybe from someone with lots of experience.

I love:
Linkin Park, Nirvana, Jason Mraz, Gary Hoey, Avril Lavigne, Jonas brothers, etc.
There’s so much more that it would take forever to list.
I like almost all types of music, but my favorites are ROCK and POP.

I’ve been learning Piano for the past 5yrs. I have a upright at home back in USA. I love guitar but never really got a chance to learn how to play it. My dad still works there for Homeland Group Realestate in GA. We moved there to Lilburn after I was 2yrs old. I asked my dad to bring a $100 Behringer ‘Rock The World’ set which came with most of the things you find in a guitar starter kit

He told me that he packed up everything and there was no space left. He told me that he looked at it at Walmart and it was a cheap guitar and that he wanted to buy me a Fender (The Stratocaster is my favorite). So he said that a friend (who’s been living at our house for about 5yrs and he’s a guitarist.) would bring it with the rest of his studio equipment on cargo. So, I’m waiting.

Any tips on Rock Guitar would be good.

I’ll never give up.
I like Metallica, Deep Purple, AC/DC, etc. Like I said, It would take too long to list. I have a much better taste in music.

I’m guessing that most of those who said only Nirvana is good out of your list have obviously never listened to Gary Hoey or been to a show. For a three man group, they blew the place away.

Hoey used to sit outside the Berkley School of Music offering to pay for lessons from other students. He couldn’t afford to go to school there but could afford to pay for lessons from students who weren’t rock stars either. It paid off.

He flew to LA to audition for Ozzy when Jake E. Lee left the band. Zack Wylde ended up getting the job but Ozzy was apparently rather impressed with Hoey.

Eventually Hoey earned his notoriety. He never gave up. He’s not a household name yet but his show was sold out as most are and he’s got a huge following. People who listen to him love him.

So, don’t give up. Don’t do it to become a star but instead do it because it’s something you want to do. If you’re meant to be a star, it will happen.

Yes, the Nickleback song "Rock Star" tells the story that many of us would do to get the life of the rock star and it’s a great tune at that, but it’s not reality. Reality is: you’ll never get there if you don’t try. I want to be a rock star, but I have to work and support my family. I play music when the time allows, therefore… I’ll never be a rock star. So, now you know what NOT to do.
