We went and looked at some real estate this weekend to see how it’s bottomed. All it did was worry me more. I’m sure my city is different than the ones the news must be reporting. The real estate crisis is not over, at least I don’t think it is. People have been hammered with the price drop in the last couple of years. Reality is just starting to set in for some. I think the high end home owners are in the most denial. The reality of real estate, who is able to afford huge mortgages when most should are just thankful they have a job. I’ve noticed the cost of goods (food, shipping costs, wholesale prices) are much higher and these prices are go to be passed down after some time. I think we will see or are seeing deflation with home prices still and hints of inflation on most other goods and services. H1N1 should help screw up our service based economy as soon as flu season hits. How’s your home town doing? That’s all I have.

In the community …
In the community that I live it’s ridiculous. I recently got a notice because my garbage cans were in the driveway up by my garage. The paint color has to be approved if I was to change the color on my house. We are not allowed to cut down any trees over 4″ wide. The list goes on and on.
Yes, if I lose my …
Yes, if I lose my job, I’d move to more independent minded states like Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, N & S Dakota, more than likely I’ll end up in Missouri with family for a while. I’d love to farm in Colorado, but I don’t know what is going to happen to the economy. Nebraska is on my list. I wish that the states were free from the Federal Govt, I’d like to find one that reflects a love of permaculture, independence, easy going attitude and learning.
Good work bro. I’m …
Good work bro. I’m in Buffalo, NY for a visit and some friends up here are reading that Florida is the only state in the Eastern US that is loosing people! I predicted that would happen. Florida is loosing 2 more people next week! LOL! Take care man!
Move to Nebraska. …
Move to Nebraska. You can have chickens in the bigger cities (all 2 of them) as long as they aren’t roosters. Outside of the city limits, its do whatever. Concealed carry is allowed as well, with the proper permit and training. Our unemployment rate is far less than the national average as well. Oh, I forgot. We have food. Lots and lots of food. Bumper crop of corn this year, even if it is GM. Cows, pigs and too many wild turkeys and deer.

I was born in Jacksonville, lived there for 6 mos, but I don’t think that I’ll be moving south.
Gated communities …
Gated communities like this usually have a LOT of rules and fees. I’m willing to bet that you cannot even plant simple shrubs/bushes without ‘permission’ from the head honcho community rep. Now, can you have chickens? I doubt it. Most communities/big cities have the mindset that chickens bring parasites, disease and lower property values. (To them, I say lol.)
Ha ha, love the …
Ha ha, love the anemic tree comment. The pine trees are the main trees that grow wild in Northeast Florida. They are funny looking and don’t have many branches until you get 50 ft up. They are only good for two by fours. There was 6 or 7 houses, didn’t see one horse. One house is for sale for $1,074,000. I would be amazed if they got 6 or 7 hundred K. Saw one kid outside, he was getting his head shaved by his dad outside. They stopped looked and waved. Looked like they have not seen people 4 yrs
It is in Northeast …
It is in Northeast Florida, in Jacksonville. It is in an out of the way area (Northside of Jacksonville) that does not have the best schools. It’s very close to the JIA airport. I know that you can have 1 horse per acre but don’t know about chickens but doubt it. There was a small HOA fee, I think it was around $1,200 year.
$99,500? What …
$99,500? What state is this in? Not that I’m buying anytime soon. The bottom won’t hit until all the Alt-A ARMs, Option ARMs, Subprime ARMs and even Prime Loans work themselves out. I might like to buy an acre of land to grow my own food and raise some chickens, but I don’t think that my county allows chickens. I’d say to people save money, buy food, guns and gold and prepare for Martial Law.
LOL, funny vid man.

No kids. No horses …
No kids. No horses. One house. Beyond that, all I saw was a gate and a bunch of anemic trees. Are they keeping out the riff-raff to prevent them from stealing asphalt for doorstops?
Not the sound money …
Not the sound money police again! I usually drive like an old Floridian on a Sunday afternoon. I swear! I don’t know what it is about these real estate videos…they make me a crazy Nascar driver.
